FLOOR COIL HEATING

Floor coil or radiant floor heating is considered by many to be one of the most luxurious heating systems of all.

Floor coil heating is invisible and takes up no floor space. It is the most even form of heating available. It could be said that the feet are the thermometers of the body. If your feet are cold you are uncomfortable. Temperature variations from floor to ceiling are usually 1 degree with floor coil heating, with ducted systems the floor to ceiling variations could be over 15 degrees. Some other systems may have variations in excess of 15 degrees. One of the exciting developments in the use of solar energy to heat private homes and other buildings has been the use of hydronic heating to heat and cool.

Because of the need to reduce energy use and emissions various organisations are developing new hydronic heating and cooling systems. These developments are extremely exciting and will lead to a dramatic increase in the use of hydronic slab systems.
